It's reflected in our focus on the people we serve, the way we treat each other and the results we achieve together as a company.Astellas is announcing a Director, Value Strategy & Access Solutions (VSAS) in Northbrook, IL.Purpose & Scope:The Director, VSAS is responsible for developing and implementing the Health Systems (HS) market access (MAx) Value Strategy and Pull-Through plans, including those of direct reports, to optimize patient access to assigned products. Individual is accountable for implementing market access strategies and tactics across multiple channels/segments including, but not limited to, Medicare, Commercial Managed Care, VA/DoD, TriCare, IDNs, Payer, Specialty Pharmacy, Retail Pharmacy, Distribution/Trade, and GPOs. Broad cross-functional collaboration with US Brand Marketing, Insights & Analytics, Medical Affairs/HEOR, Sales, Payer Account Management, Key Account Management, Global Teams (Strategic Brand Marketing, Advanced Insights/Analytics-RWI and Market Access-MAx) and other key HS and Commercial/Medical functions are critical. Position requires demonstrated proficiency in strategic thinking, collaboration, communication, and proven decision-making skills in order to effectively implement marketing plans across these multiple stakeholders.Essential Job Responsibilities:* Responsible for development of US MAx Value Strategy Long-Term (3-5 year) Plans for assigned products; conducting strategic analysis and incorporating insights from Medical Evidence Plans (Clinical & HEOR) to deliver market access strategy and payer value story for assigned products.* Develop and direct implementation for HS go-to-market market access launch plans, which may include both in-line and pipeline products.* Lead collaboration with Medical Affairs/HEOR stakeholders to provide strategy and insights for pull-through of appropriate economic, quality and outcomes data to demonstrate superior product value differentiation with multiple customer segments including payers (formularies), organized providers (pathways) and health systems (formularies, protocols).* Lead the development, execution and measurement of brand, above-brand (franchise-level) and market access promotional tactics (personal and non-personal) to ensure effective product value differentiation with payers and organized provider stakeholders, and effective pull-through access messaging with HCPs.* Ensure materials and programs are highly effective and compliant by owning projects through the Medical, Legal and Regulatory review process.* Effectively direct and facilitate data needs for strategic planning with assigned TA(s) and cross-functional teams, as well as oversee the creation and implementation of HS Situational Analysis, Strategic Plan, and Tactical Plans, ensuring alignment with corporate and brand objectives and A&P guidelines for budget (HS MAx Plan, Brand Plan and MTP).* Authorize opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional colleagues in implementing strategic and tactical plans and determining improvements for change.* Oversee the management and performance of external business partners to ensure operational efficiency and tactical plan implementation for assigned products.* Formulates new stakeholder engagement plans for assigned products with internal and external stakeholders to address the evolving healthcare environment, assess needs and develop messaging and resources to optimize market access.* Oversees the development of direct reports and ensures the timely administration of individual development plans and performance reviews.* Implements other support functions as assigned by Executive Director, Value Strategy & Access Solutions.Quantitative Dimensions:Sales Budget: This position has a direct impact on both the strategic and tactical direction for the brands assigned. By approving the feedback delivered by the team and used to make critical strategic choices, this position contributes to Business Planning cycle, tactical planning and subsequent product achievement.A and P Budget: Directly impacted by the efficient use of resources including: direct reports, vendors, negotiation for services both internally and externally and monitoring of budget.Organizational Context:This Director, VSAS is a lead role responsible for developing and implementing HS strategies for assigned therapeutic areas; leading direct reports to achieve the financial targets of the company through superior strategic and tactical execution. This individual directly engages in and has ultimate responsibility for HS market access strategies and pull-through plans for assigned brands. This position will be highly engaged with senior Commercial Leadership in providing the necessary robust data and solutions for the development of the annual business plan and long-term MAx value strategy. This position should balance both strategic and tactical activities, while focusing tactical activities with direct reports. This position should already have (or have demonstrated) fully developed working relationships with higher-level external partners and internal colleagues from other departments (including Market Research, Legal, Finance, Contracts/Pricing, Global Market Access, Global Strategic Brand Marketing, Operations, Compliance and Regulatory). This role requires high levels of collaboration for success and will require consistent interface with senior-level, cross-functional colleagues to determine success of plans and develop creative solutions. This position will report to Executive Director, Value Strategy & Access Solutions.Qualifications:Required* Bachelors' degree. Advanced degree strongly preferred.* 12+ years related experience (domestic and/or global marketing, sales, sales training, market research, marketing operations, finance, forecasting, in-line and pipeline planning, etc.) and/or equivalent education.* Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills* Proven track record of success being a high-level independent and team contributor to lead multiple projects and processes.* Ability to lead a team of direct reports and support cross-functional working groups to deliver against common goals* Exceptional communication skills in order to present complex issues to upper level management and contribute to high-level presentations and discussions is a must.* Strong collaborative experience in building relationships and influencing internal, and external (i.e. third-party support), colleagues across multiple functions (Commercial and Medical). This position requires a background in commercial strategy.* Proven executive presence and experience in delivering presentations to senior leaders. Contact and collaboration with Brand Senior Directors and VPs, both US and Global, is routine.* Demonstrated leadership capabilities in strategic thinking, problem solving, influencing without authority, and decision-making skills in a matrix organization.* Must be willing to travel (approximately 40%).Preferred* Advanced degree/education.* Strong experience and proficiency in payer, managed markets/health systems or market access function.* Previous brand marketing experience or specialized training in several disease states, particularly oncology.* Pharma lean six sigma certification.* Previous brand marketing, market access, and/or managed markets/health system experience.#LI-DMEqual Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/DisabledCategory Health Systems
