  • This Opportunity

    Serve as key member of WSP's California Environmental Planning and Permitting Team, with focus on program and project delivery, client communications, and project staff management. Leadership, management, and preparation of documentation compliant with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and similar impact assessment laws for a variety of project scopes and clients. Oversee multidisciplinary teams of technical specialists, including land use planners, aquatic and terrestrial biologists, ecologists, archaeologists, socioeconomists, geologists, et al. contributing to comprehensive impact analyses. Specific tasks would include preparing and adhering to scopes, schedules, budgets, completing or overseeing all components of environmental documentation, and managing and mentoring junior staff. Will work collaboratively with Environmental Planning and Permitting leadership and technical staff throughout California. Proven experience with California state-level and local agencies is a requirement.

    Your Impact

    • Ability to successfully manage all aspects of medium-to-large sized projects, encompassing development of proposals, including development of scope of work/technical approach, budget, and schedule.

    • Liaison with client, agencies, and consultant team members.

    • The ability to work effectively and independently in a CEQA program/project manager role.

    • Solid understanding of CEQA regulatory requirements and processes.

    • Attention and commitment to timely completion of high-quality work.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)

    • 10+ years of experience working in the environmental planning field, completing environmental surveys, fieldwork, habitat and construction support, impact assessments, and permitting.

    • Highly proficient expertise with environmental planning skills for a specific ecosystem(s), habitat(s), and/or applicable regulatory zone.

    • Demonstrated experience with CEQA and related state acts.

    • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

    • Experience with marketing, proposals, and business development.

    • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

    • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.

    • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree is preferred.

    • Essential professional licensure/certification.

    Compensation

    Expected Salary: $109,400-162,470

    WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
