    Responsibilities

    The CTA in the Cardiology practice will also support vital sign measurement, medication history review, allergy history review during the rooming process. Assistance with safe patient transfers, pending certain medication refills and orders, and providing patient instructions will be performed. The CTA role assists in preparation for patient visits, assistance with Patient Assistance Program medications, paperwork, and telephone calls with patients, scheduling staff, and the multidisciplinary care team. The CTA role works within the Department of Nursing and will float to departments beyond the Cardiology Clinic based on clinic demand and patient needs.

    This position allows clinical teams (Allied Health Staff and providers) to focus on face-to-face encounters with patients by coordinating non-clinical and clinical functions such as: receiving and rooming patients, prior authorizations for medications, workers compensation paperwork, panel management, faxing, medication proposing, equipment cleaning, deep room cleaning, and stocking and monitoring of expiration on all supplies. Maintains levels of supplies, ordering, receiving and routing of supplies appropriately. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates tact and patience in dealing with health care team members and patients. Demonstrates strong organizational skills in maintaining a smooth flow for care team. Exhibits appropriate use of telecommunications equipment and uses computer efficiently. Demonstrates initiative, proficiency, and good judgment to optimize the use of care teams time when seeing patients. Strong communication skills and a commitment to quality and excellence in service are important components of the role.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent required. One year of customer service experience. Excellent customer service skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, knowledge of computer ordering process, knowledge of appropriate communication systems and office equipment, strong skills in oral and written communication, strong ability to multi-task, must be adaptable to a changing environment and strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Successful completion of HUC vocational program, administrative clinic assistant, medical office, health care/medical receptionist, or nursing assistant course would be helpful. Knowledge of medical terminology and working knowledge of current electronic health record helpful.

    Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
