    Summary:

    Assists the Ophthalmologist in the Eye Clinic by collecting data, administering treatment ordered by an ophthalmologist, and supervising patients. Provides skilled ophthalmic care to patients, ages infant through adult. Upholds the standards of the system wide customer service program.

    Qualifications

    Required

    High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. Two years experience as ophthalmic assistant, one of which was as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). BLS Certification from the AHA.

    Preferred

    Skill in Photography including fluorescein angiography and one ophthalmology specialty area such as glaucoma or retina

    Physical Requirements

    May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
