Controller

Description We are seeking a Controller to join our team in San Diego, California. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing month-end close processes, reviewing all general ledger entries and reconciliations, and managing financial reporting and control processes. This role requires a detailed understanding of GAAP and an ability to assist in the preparation of our company's annual budget. Moreover, you will be tasked with managing annual financial audits, cost accounting functions, and tax-related filings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the month-end close process and ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP

• Review all general ledger entries and reconciliations, making adjusting entries as necessary

• Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, calculating accruals and deferrals, and conducting account analysis

• Assist in the preparation of the annual company budget, managing reporting and analysis of variances

• Conduct annual financial audit support, providing explanations and interpretations as needed

• Develop and maintain documentation of current controls, processes, practices, and workflows

• Oversee cost accounting functions, defining cycle count guidelines and annual physical inventory processes

• Review P& L for cost savings opportunities and report results to the Vice President of Finance

• Perform research of technical accounting issues for compliance

• Manage the reporting and payment of sales & use tax, franchise tax, and other related taxes as required

• Manage required property tax filings, and maintain the associated records.

Skills

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Knowledge of ADP - Financial Services

• Experience with DCAA and ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning

• Familiarity with ERP Solutions

• Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Knowledge of Auditing procedures

• Experience with Budget Processes. Requirements - Must possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position

• Proficient in Accounting Software Systems and ERP Solutions

• Experienced in ADP - Financial Services and DCAA regulations

• Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and its practical application

• Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experienced in conducting Auditing and managing Budget Processes

• Ability to work cross-functionally and effectively communicate financial data to non-financial individuals

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent leadership and team management abilities

• Proven track record of maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is required; Master's degree or CPA certification is preferred.
