Shift: Monday - Friday 6:30am-3pm
Accession all samples that come into the laboratory for the hospital
Triage samples according to priorities (STAT versus routine)
Organize samples per department to ensure the workflow is correct
Package kits for send outs to reference lab
Send out reference lab tests
Use centrifuge to spin blood samples
Aliquot samples
Pour off reagents
Freeze and refrigerate samples as needed
Know specimen requirements for pre-analytical testing
Utilize medical terminology knowledge
Answer phones for internal calls in hospital asking for sample updates
Receive external calls from physician office to provide results and ETA on sample results
Intake for all samples that are received in hospital from patients or community practices
