  • Manufacturing Engineering Manager-Onsite Position

    As our Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will lead the technical support team within Operations to drive ongoing improvements that support the Production and product delivery function. You will develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequence, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. You will collaborate with design engineering using the New Product Introduction process in coordinating the release of new products and product changes. Through members on your team, you will estimate manufacturing costs and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. You will oversee the operation and support of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to ensure it is operating effectively and assisting the production team to efficiently build and test quality products. You will have a large role in implementing and supporting the ongoing AS9100 QMS foundation for PacStar. Your role will include analyzing quality indicators to determine root cause and maintaining records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

    Your Challenge:

    • Lead and mentor technical support team within Operations

    • Collaborate with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products and conduct review of engineering designs prior to release

    • Review product/project flow data and equipment and labor requirements for use in conducting manufacturing operations, driving continuous improvement, and reducing production unit cost

    • Coordinate the evaluation of engineering changes and/or other specifications requirements; serves as technical liaison with other engineering personnel such as program management, finance, design, quality, procurement, inspection, and production

    • Assist with implementation and support of AS9100 compliant Quality Management System

    • Participate and lead in supplier quality oversight from supplier evaluation through incoming material quality assessment

    • Drive continuous improvement in all process areas

    • Primary owner for site's MES system, to monitor and track factory activity, process status, and general work-in-process data; continue expansion of this system, as appropriate to utilize the tool for best practices in production

    • Analyze process data to drive prioritized improvement

    • Use ERP system (SAP) to develop process and process flow improvements including LEAN, where applicable

    • Manage systems used within Operations to ensure they are improving effectiveness and supporting increased production output while improving quality

    • Use AGILE system with Engineering to ensure product and BOM accuracy and effectiveness for Production

    • Perform various operational or methods analyses related to labor standards

    • Other duties as assigned

    Your Expertise:

    • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, or Operations or equivalent experience

    • 4 years experience in leading and managing a team supporting technical functions in electronics manufacturing environment

    • Demonstrated proficiency with LEAN Management and continuous improvement

    • Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP, and proficient with MS Office tools

    • Strong presentation skills on technical and financial Operations subjects

    • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications

    • Knowledge of basic electronic and mechanical assembly principles and working knowledge and experience with AS9100 QMS

    • Experience with mathematical concepts (probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry) and apply concepts to practical situations

    • Experience with CAD software and continuous improvement

    • Experience with MES systems for tracking and monitoring performance of the production environment

    • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems and performing and presenting cost/benefit analysis and equipment justification and return on investment

    • Accuracy and attention to detail is a must

    • Ability to multi-task and manage various project related duties
