    Function:

    Leveraging ITW 80/20 business philosophies and toolbox methodologies, this position reports to the Operations Manager II - Ovens and Heater Holding (HH), this role supervises or assists in supervising employees, organizes and monitors workflow, oversees production scheduling, and ensures strict adherence to the production schedule.

    Responsibilities (80% Core Essential Functions)

    • Follow and execute ITW Enterprise Strategy, ITW Toolkit, Core Values, and Code of Conduct as a leader of the business.

    • Improvement of safety results - analysis of close calls and determination of root cause and counter measures.

    • Support comprehensive in-plant initiatives, leverage expert-level proficiency in 5S methodology to streamline manufacturing processes, ensure workplace optimization, efficiency, and Safety. Support the Safety standard for overall operational excellence.

    • Upholds company Safety and housekeeping programs to ensure a safe work environment, consistent with corporate policies.

    • Monitor and coach employee's compliance on Safety and quality processes.

    • Train & coach hourly employees in safe, effective assembly methods

    • Identify opportunities for preventing waste and inefficiency during production.

    • Simplification of work processes, improvement of labor efficiency, and product throughput improvements

    • Review assembly processes to identify and eliminate bottlenecks.

    • Make recommendations on new equipment to target Safety and throughput improvements.

    • Train employees and become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the new equipment.

    • Develop and revise SOPs as required using best practices.

    • Identify and implement product standard cost reductions.

    • Supervises daily production activities for a specific group of assembly workers, recommending discipline and recognition as needed.

    • Reviews work performance, absenteeism, scrap, and rework records of supervised personnel, taking corrective actions when necessary.

    • Interprets, clarifies, and enforces rules, regulations, policies, and contract administration.

    • Handles employee complaints and assists in general human resources activities for the work group when applicable.

    • Maintains morale, ensures equitable discipline, and promotes positive personnel relations.

    • Ensures proper handling of hazardous wastes, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations.

    • Monitors operations and processes to ensure employees use proper methods and perform at safe and acceptable levels.

    • Instructs new employees on operations and task performance.

    • Advises and assists employees in achieving established work standards.

    • Collaborates with other departments to address operational matters.

    • Orders supplies and ensure employees have necessary tools, equipment, materials, and paperwork.

    • Performs preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs with issued work orders.

    • Compiles and maintains required department records.

    Responsibilities (20% Business-specific functions)

    • Assist business unit management in preparation of annual Operating Plan.

    • Reviews current equipment and production procedures, making recommendations for operational cost reduction.

    • Organize and maintain production tools.

    • Conducts interviews and hiring for assembly technicians and welders, including new hire orientation.

    • Oversees shipping/receiving activities, maintaining records.

    • Creates serial tags for the production floor and reports daily production.

    • Ability to coach and develop talent.

    • Vast knowledge in assembly, welding, and fabrication process.

    • Mechanically inclined to aid in troubleshooting.

    • Bilingual a plus.

    • Manage the performance appraisal process and skill placement to support production needs.

    • Learn and utilize ITW Toolbox to influence decision making.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • This position has no direct reports.

    Education and Work Experience

    Holder of a High School Diploma with a minimum of five (4) years of expertise in diverse manufacturing operations, including but not limited to industries such as food & beverage, textiles, automotive, electronics, etc. Demonstrated proficiency in manufacturing supervision, encompassing plant floor operations and personnel management, with preference for candidates with 3+ years of experience in these areas. Union experience preferred but not mandatory.

    Desired Education/Experience

    Bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline with a minimum of four (4) years' experience in a related industry (e.g., metal fabrication, foundry, tool & die, industrial trades, etc.). Alternatively in business administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline, with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in a related industry. Union experience preferred but not mandatory..

    Certificates and Licenses

    • Six-Sigma - Lean (Desired)

    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or certificate (Desired)

    • Possesses a good understanding of manufacturing operations and related processes.

    • Ability to respond to changes quickly, calmly, and efficiently.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is:

    • Must be able to stand or walk for duration of 10 hours.

    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

    • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, reach and twist to complete all job tasks.

    • Must be able to wear all required PPE (i.e., safety glasses, gloves, steel/composite toe safety shoes)

    Working Conditions

    • Combination - industrial plant floor, union environment, and office.

    Hours of Work

    • Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:30 pm.

    • Week/Weekend overtime as necessary
