    The EAR, NOSE, and THROAT operating unit offers a broad portfolio that addresses ear, nose, and throat conditions, as well as electrosurgical products for soft tissue dissection and hemostatic sealing of soft tissue and bone. The devices we are responsible for designing allow us to treat disease states such as Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), head and neck cancers, and skull base tumors.

    This role will require being onsite in Jacksonville, Florida, as needed.

    A Day in the Life

    In this role, you will provide a leading materials engineering role in the sustaining, implementation, laboratory testing, and transfer to manufacturing of released medical devices for the ENT business sector. This role will also support the Research and Technology to evaluate new materials for use in future product designs.

    Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

    • You will lead and guide in developing prototypes, verification/validation units, and product specifications, including material specifications and manufacturing documentation evaluating new materials in existing product designs.

    • Responsible for the initiation, design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects to advance technologies for products used during ENT/NT procedures/surgeries.

    • Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products.

    • Plans and executes laboratory research through hands-on bench work.

    • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.

    • May participate in developing Intellectual Property (IP) through idea and product submissions and patent applications.

    • May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.

    Must Have: Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in materials engineering or related field required

    • Minimum of 2 years of materials or fiber optic experience

    Nice to Have

    • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related principals.

    • Ability to apply engineering analysis techniques and tools (Creo, Minitab).

    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

    • Effective communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization.

    • Experience with sustaining products throughout their lifecycle.

    • Experience with Medical Devices or other regulated industries.

    • Hands on experience in electron microscopy, spectroscopy, metrology, wet chemistry

    The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and specific CA locations). The rate offered complies with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
