    JOB SUMMARY

    The Senior Director, Privacy will promote and support a culture of ethics and compliance at Marriott by leading the Global Privacy Office's key Operational and Strategic Initiatives portfolio including, but not limited to, Data Retention, Consent Management, Third Party Data Sharing, special projects, and emerging topics in the Privacy space. The Senior Director will be responsible for providing privacy support and subject matter expertise on privacy and data protection issues as the regulatory and business landscape evolves. This role partners closely with the Global Privacy Office (Legal), Corporate Counsel, Global Technology, and Global Information Security as well as the continents to develop and implement processes and scalable technical solutions to enable automated privacy controls and reduce risk as well as monitor these programs for sustained compliance. In this role, the Senior Director must effectively advocate for, and balance, both business and privacy objectives and drive decisions. The Senior Director will oversee a team of associates, requiring a track record of strong leadership and associate development.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE

    Education and Experience Required

    • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, or related major

    • 10+ years of professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance

    • 5+ years of data privacy or data protection experience

    • Familiarity with best practices around privacy policies, principles, and technology tools

    • Demonstrated success leading and influencing across a highly-matrixed, cross-functional organization, notably with Technology, Operations, Marketing, Digital, and Legal

    • Superior written and oral communication and executive presentation skills

    • Strong project management skills with proven ability to manage scope, budget and timeline to deliver measurable business results and value

    • Previous leadership experience, experience managing a team of associates

    Education and Experience Preferred

    • 5+ years of data privacy or data protection experience in the retail or hospitality industry

    • International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) CIPP Certification

    • Management consulting experience

    • Master's degree in Business Administration

    CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

    • Set vision and strategy for core privacy operations activities as well as strategic projects and special initiatives, partnering with Legal and Global Technology, and balancing compliance and risk mitigation with business enablement; provide connectivity and support to continent Privacy Counsels as required.

    • Collaborate with internal partners and stakeholders to support business initiatives/strategies and work with teams to incorporate Privacy-by-Design principles and standards into their solutions.

    • Support enterprise-wide Data Retention policies, processes, and procedures including communications strategy, routine compliance monitoring and measurement, and response to regulator, customer, and leadership inquiries.

    • Support high-priority regulatory requests and inquiries by providing subject matter expertise and/or leading coordinated response from required discipline teams. Lead Customer Group and Privacy efforts to improve processes and procedures following response submissions. Coordinate with Business Leaders to resolve any findings, as needed, within defined remediation timelines. Deliver reports to senior leaders detailing progress against objectives.

    • Support Global Privacy Office associates responsible for PIA and Individual Rights activities.

    • Support the Vice President & Corporate Counsel - Data Security and Privacy Regulatory Compliance Counsel by driving program change and strengthening controls, as required, across the Privacy Strategic Initiatives portfolio.

    • Develop forward looking perspectives and business enablement strategies for emerging topics in the Privacy space (e.g., Generative AI and growing use of Identity Verification and Biometric data).

    • Partner with Global Privacy Office to support annual budget process, including check-ins, leadership reporting, and ad hoc funding requests.

    • Contribute to, and support, privacy training and awareness building within Marriott.
