    JOB SUMMARY

    NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a Senior Research Associate I to?join The Bridge in our Chicago - Hyde Park office.?The Senior Research Associate I would work closely with the Bridge's senior research teams to support project work on our education research agenda. The ideal candidate would have experience conducting quantitative analyses of moderate complexity and have strong writing skills. The Senior Research Associate's primary responsibilities include supporting the Bridge's research teams to design and implement research and evaluation projects.

    Applicants will be based in our Chicago, IL Hyde Park office on the University of Chicago campus, with a hybrid office/work from home schedule.

    The Bridge is a community of researchers and programs covering a variety of substantive domains and exemplifying NORC's commitment to the highest standards of academic excellence and research innovation. The Bridge brings substantive expertise and collaborative infrastructure to theoretically driven and multimodal research. The Bridge collaborates with multi-disciplinary research from the University of Chicago and other research institutions by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data; providing methodological and statistical expertise; and facilitating pre- and post-award management. The Bridge's researchers also have the tremendous opportunity to apply what they have learned in practical settings. The Bridge's research staff works jointly with social scientists, physicians, and other experts in an open, cooperative working environment. Topical areas of focus across the Bridge include early childhood care and education (ECE), healthy aging, arts and culture, and equity research.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Contribute to the design and implementation of key project tasks in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers.

    • Conduct quantitative data analysis and synthesis.

    • Lead key tasks in research design and analysis

    • Develop instrumentation for quantitative or qualitative data collection.

    • Lead the drafting of reports and presentations for clients and professional meetings.

    • Author sections of technical reports, white papers, key findings from analyses, and other project deliverables.

    • Develop slides, data charts, and tables for presenting study findings

    • Assist with business development activities, supporting proposal efforts such as drafting subsections of proposals, compiling data, and drafting charts or exhibits

    • Perform other duties as assigned.?

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Bachelor's Degree; Masters' degree strongly preferred in public policy, economics, statistics, developmental psychology, sociology, or education. Degrees in other subjects may be considered if other relevant skills apply

    • Minimum?three (3)?years' research experience which includes playing a lead role in managing and driving tasks including data cleaning, analysis, and reporting.

    • Strong analytic ability, writing and organizational skills are required.

    • Experience with quantitative analysis is preferred, including working knowledge of R, Stata, SAS, SPSS, or other statistical data analysis packages.

    • Must demonstrate effective workplace competencies including:

    • Attentiveness to detailed tasks, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet requirements of multiple assignments simultaneously,

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team,

    • Effective written and verbal communication,

    • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including MS Teams.

    • Occasional travel for site visits and meetings may be required.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    The pay range for this position is $70,000 - $96,000.

    This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC's comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
