    Summary

    SUMMARY : Under close supervision, the Radiologic Technologist (Single Modality) performs a variety of duties in the Department of Radiology/ Imaging Services of Alameda Health System related to general Radiography/Fluoroscopy. Performs various diagnostic imaging examinations of patients as directed for diagnostic and treatment purposes according to established procedures. Perform s related duties as required.

    DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

    1. Assists Physician in administering opaque media (contrast)

    2. Rotates assignments within the dpeartment by assigned shifts as required to meet departmental needs

    3 Processes Images as appropriate for Modality (CR/DR/Film) and is proficient in utilizing the PACS system (Picture Archival Communications)

    1. Maintains adequate records of examinations/dose/contrast as directed, and appropriately utilizing two patient identifier with each patient exam

    2. Assists with movement of patients (rooming/transport)

    3. Assists in the development/optimization of technical factors for radiographic procedures

    4. May assist in equipment or procedures not routinely taught in school

    5. May assist in the training of students

    6. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with designate areas or procedures as required

    7. Performs all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by employer.

    8. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination

    9. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of environment and supplies

    10. Ensure utilization of non expired supplies by checking stock regularly and using "first in first out" rule of re stocking

    11. Produces Radiographs, positions and transfers patients, and provides immobilization devices as necessary to obtain images

    12. Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards.

    13. Ensure utilizing techniques that promote ALARA on an individual patient basis (As Low as Reasonably Achieved) for radiation exposure

    14. Selects and operates all imaging equipment as directed and licensed to perform.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

    Required Education: High school Diploma or equivalent, Graduation from an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology, or military equivalent

    Preferred Education: Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree

    Required Experience: Step 1 is Entry Level (New Grad). Step 2 and above require at least one year experience as a radiologic technologist

    Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid certificate as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of California Department of Public Health

    Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification

    Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid Fluoroscopy Permit issued by the State of California (Step 1 has 6 months to obtain, but may not practice fluoroscopy until obtained)

    Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association.
