What is the position?

Cognosante is seeking an experienced Sr. Program Director with a strong track record of delivering high caliber results with high client satisfaction. This role will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of multiple high-profile Veterans Administration (VA) development efforts, coordinating with strategic customers and partners, developing program delivery visions, and enacting those visions. You should have demonstrated experience successfully managing large, complex IT solution development programs. The ideal candidate must be well-versed in a range of technical concepts including solution development life cycle, strategic information planning, Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodology, SAFe, DevSecOps, and business process engineering. The successful candidate must be an effective communicator and collaborator, energetic, intelligent, passionate, and motivated. The role is fast paced on complex, high priority programs requiring both hard and soft skills and focused dedication. It is a remote/telework position.

What will I get to do?

The Sr. Program Director will have authority over a portfolio of highly visible programs, including a very large full lifecycle, Agile COTS SaaS implementation and integration effort. You will influence and build strong relationships across multiple teams and with VA. In your role, you will monitor and direct junior to senior team members and work with multiple levels of managers and executives within Cognosante, VA, and our partners. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading growth opportunities and developing proposals for new work within your portfolio. This is a hands-on position. and you will often involve yourself in the day-to-day activities and decision-making processes for the programs in your portfolio.

What qualifications do I need?

• 10 years of relevant experience

• Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related scientific/technical discipline)

• Experience in a Program Manager, Director or similar role overseeing large federal or state contracts for the Department of Veteran Affairs is required

• 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

• Experience managing Information Technology related projects, and well versed in life cycle and project management methodologies

• Experience in tracking costs, schedule and performance progress, and the identification and mitigation of risks

• Ability to obtain and maintain a VA NACI clearance

• PMI PMP Certification or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire

What additional characteristics will help me thrive?

• Experience managing large client engagements, including large system development and maintenance programs at the VA

• Experience with government cloud solutions, particularly AWS FedRAMP, and experience with cloud migrations

• Strong ability to foster collaborative work in a dynamic team environment

• Demonstrated ability to manage established large, geographically dispersed teams doing solution development or operations support work, in a demanding, customer-service-oriented environment

• A team player and a consistent, dependable performer, with an excellent work ethic, flexible "can-do" attitude, and a results-driven commitment to success

• Strong prioritization and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, with strong delegation and follow through

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Creative, analytical, customer service, problem solving, and trouble-shooting skills

• Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as required

• Open to occasional travel (~10% to VA and Cognosante locations)

Compensation

$160,696.43 - $257,118.66

The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante's total compensation package for employees. It is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee.
