    The Department of Corrections is looking to hire a Substitute Teacher at our St. Cloud Facility! This intermittent position will provide appropriate learning experiences for students in a variety of educational settings. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide instruction in a well-managed and comprehensive instructional environment, which may include Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development diploma (GED), High School Diploma, English as a Second Language and English Language Learning (ESL/ELL), post-secondary preparation, and related life skills.

    • Develop and support Personal Education Plans and provide academic, career readiness skills.

    • Integrate methods of instruction to serve all types of learning styles in an individually-paced classroom and provide student advising as necessary.

    • Assess, monitor, and record offender progress and to direct resources to promote effective offender learning.This position will have direct contact with incarcerated students.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position

    • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university.

    AND

    • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Professional Minnesota teaching license OR possession of a current Five-Year or Lifetime Minnesota Short Call Substitute teaching license.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position

    • Possession of a current Minnesota Tier 3 or 4 teaching license.

    • Experience working in an education setting.

    • Experience working in a correctional setting.

    • Experience teaching Adult Basic Education.

    • Full-time teaching experience as a licensed teacher.

    Physical Requirements

    Additional Requirements

    The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

    Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
