    About this role:

    Wells Fargo is seeking a Vice President to join the Transactional Conflicts Office, based in our New York office reporting to the Global Head of Conflicts and Reputation Risk. Transactional Conflicts is part of the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) COO that proactively reviews CIB and Commercial Banking transactions to identify and manage any actual or perceived conflicts of interest and/or related reputation risk. We gather relevant information about the firm's relationships with the client and counterparties, assess where one relationship could conflict with another and provide senior leaders with a recommended path forward. These range from facilitating a business selection conversation to limiting business activities and managing deal team staffing. The Conflicts team partners with Industry and Product heads as well as Compliance, Legal and other control functions globally in performing its role.

    In this role, you will:

    • Manage the conflict checking process for investment banking, capital markets and financing transactions in CIB and Commercial Banking to ensure relevant issues are identified, assessed and resolved or escalated, as appropriate

    • Provide guidance on transactional conflict-related queries creating solutions to effectively navigate potential conflict and business selection issues

    • Review intake of conflicts clearance requests and interact with deal teams to understand business opportunities

    • Gather information and conduct due diligence of business opportunities under review by considering current and past engagements, existing credit and equity positions and other relevant relationships that may give rise to a potential conflict of interest

    • Communicate conclusions and analysis to deal team leaders and senior management

    • Document conflict analysis using firm database, and monitor the status of opportunities once cleared to proactively identify issues that may arise following initial conflict check

    • Escalate issues, as appropriate, to senior management and/or appropriate governance groups in real time

    • Consult with business leadership to facilitate business selection decisions

    • Collaborate with employees in the Control Room, Compliance and Legal to identify and resolve potential issues arising during the course of the conflict check review process

    • Supervise and mentor of junior employees in support of their analysis of transactions

    • Lead group strategic projects (e.g. new technology, Banker training, etc.).

    Required Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of Transactions and Processing experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Direct experience in M&A or Conflicts or Legal supporting Investment Banking (including M&A transactions)

    • Ability to chart and analyze the relationship among multiple global entities and identify possible conflict issues

    • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with senior bankers and the Firm's senior management in a clear, precise and efficient manner and offer sound independent judgment

    • Must have the confidence/fortitude to probe across the spectrum of stakeholders to ensure end analysis is complete

    • Experience exercising sound judgement in evaluating complex situations and identifying potential issues. Should have natural curiosity to follow through on any issues/situations that are not clearly understood

    • Ability to operate in fast paced, dynamic work environment with high sense of urgency in getting results and resolving open issues independently (with little supervision)

    • Strong sense of discretion in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information

    • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

    • Proactive and self-motivated

    • Ability to work in close coordination with others as part of a small team.

    $138,500.00 - $287,600.00
