3 Annoying Co-workers and How To Cope

Dealing with annoying co-workers.

When you start a new job, it doesn't matter if it's the job of your dreams or just a temporary assignment, you'll have to deal with lots of different people. One of the hardest things to deal with are annoying co-workers. Once you start in a new job, you will meet many new people, some that you get along with and others that annoy you to no end.

Here are three annoying co-workers you might have to deal with along with tips on how to cope:
 
  • The one who talks too much - This is someone who won't stop talking. Even when you are working, he or she just chatters away without considering how much it might be keeping you from getting your work done. What's worse is that sometimes they are interesting and can rope you into conversations. Before you know it, you've wasted an hour or more.

 

  • How to cope - Understand that they might just be people who are trying to put off getting their work done or who have different work loads than you. Try your best not to get angry at them, instead just excuse yourself from the conversation by letting them know that you need to focus on what you're doing.

 

  • The lazy team member - While you are working hard trying to get things done, this co-worker spends their day playing solitare or wandering around the office chatting with people. No matter how hard you try, you can never catch this person doing any actual work.

 

  • How to cope - The best thing to do is just ignore what they are doing. If it isn't preventing you from getting your work done - let it go. Assume that your boss is already aware of the situation and handling it as they see fit. However, if their work habits are keeping you from getting your work done, you may have to talk to your boss about the issue.

 

  • Debbie Downer or Negative Ned - This type of annoying co-worker is always complaining. It is almost as if they just look around the office in search of things to complain about. They are often seen gossiping with others and trying to stir up dissent. This person can send the entire office into a bad mood and is an all around downer.

 

  • How to cope - Have compassion for them, understanding that they are really, really unhappy people. It's very sad to imagine having to be this person for a day. Try to ignore their negativity and focus on the positive things about your job. The worst thing you can do is feed into the negativity or let it ruin your day.

    When negative attitudes of others gets to you, you just haveto say something.  For instance, you can say, if my behaviourwas negative or I had or has an attitude, you would notlike it, so stop that negative behaviour....
