How to Get Free Wi-Fi this Holiday Season - Compliments of Google

Posted by

Are you planning a business trip in the next couple of months? Or perhaps, going to visit family for the holidays? Maybe just trying to get away from them? Whatever the reason, your holiday travel plans are about to get a bit sweeter. How about being able to browse the web from 35,000 feet? Well, this holiday season, Google is giving away free Wi-Fi access on all flights on Delta, AirTran and Virgin America airlines.

The Wi-fi service offered by the airlines can typically cost upwards of $15 per flight, and it isn't transferable when you board a connecting flight. As you can imagine, it can become fairly pricey. In order to be eligible for the giveaway, all you have to do is register at freeholidaywifi.com.

The promotion is the same one that Google ran last year, however this year it is being sponsored by the search giant's new web browser, Chrome. If you haven't had the chance to test out the Chrome's speed, you should give it a try. As a long time Firefox user, I decided to give Chrome a test run a few months ago. I was amazed at the loading speed and found that it renders video in near record time. While, I haven't been able to get rid of Firefox entirely, (due to Chrome's lack of add-ons), I am hoping that will change in the next year as Google continues to fine tune their browser.

The promotion runs from November 20, 2010 to January 2, 2011. Thanks to Google, this holiday season is looking a little brighter and better connected for business and personal travelers alike.

Of course, if you are a Gmail user who has found the addictive, “Old Snakey” game hidden right in your inbox, you know what this means? Yeah, you guessed it- Snakes on a Plane!!
