    The Amex in a Box engineering group is building technology to rapidly deploy the software underlying our company's entire portfolio of products and services. Our goal is to be able to stand up an entirely new instance of "Amex as a service" in less than a week so that the company can quickly seize market opportunities and implement strategic priorities.

    In this Director of Product Management role, you will help us create technical products and services that enable and accelerate software transformation work across the Amex ecosystem in accordance with the Amex in a Box vision and strategy. You will identify and prioritize product opportunities and guide execution in partnership with our directors of engineering and program management. Your customers will be Amex developers working globally across all lines of business.

    This role reports to the Vice President of Engineering for Amex in a Box.

    What you'll do:

    • Deeply understand the company's highest-level business strategies and the global regulatory landscape as it relates to our mission. You will balance competing stakeholder needs and timelines and make choices about what to focus on when.

    • Shape our product strategy and roadmap by identifying and prioritizing capabilities and features to achieve our objectives. You will engage in rigorous customer discovery with a focus on user needs and define outcomes that are meaningful to them. You will create focus for our team through OKRs and monitor product health with quantitative KPIs.

    • Drive our product initiatives forward through idea generation, data-driven experiments, and decisive action. You will instill a sense of collective ownership that motivates us to deliver more value to our customers over time. With your engineering and program management partners, you will sense and solve when the team is running into problems.

    • Work hands-on to plan and execute product delivery. You will act as an individual contributor during our startup phase and have opportunities to build a product management team down the line.

    You may be a fit if:

    • You have managed highly technical software products where the end users were software developers. While an engineering background is not a requirement for this role, you need to be comfortable and credible talking to developers about technical topics and understand what it takes to build and ship cloud-native applications.

    • You know how to create focused, customer-centric technical product strategies. You will be expected to define our strategy with minimal input from others. You must have experience discovering new use cases and audiences, and you will need to be comfortable making difficult prioritization decisions and saying no to stakeholders.

    • You are an excellent communicator, with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire others to work toward shared outcomes. Developing trusting relationships and exchanging candid feedback across functional and organizational lines will be key to your success.

    • You are comfortable balancing multiple priorities and know how to make progress in ambiguous and rapidly changing circumstances.

    • You can overlap the US Eastern time zone for at least 4 hours during a normal working day.
