    The Loyalty Experiences Engineering team enables our customers to move seamlessly across Membership Rewards experiences while providing a one-stop shop for them to view/track Benefits associated to their products. This team also facilitates digital experiences to redeem rewards for such as Point Transfer, Gift Cards, statement credits and Cash Deposit. Additionally, the team offers a content hub called " Business Class " to provide meaningful resources for small business owners as well as experiences for Lounge Finder and Entertainment .

    The Engineering Director, Loyalty Experiences Engineering, will lead the engineering teams and deliver software products that enable these digital experiences which are crucial for our customers as we strive to be essential to their everyday lives. Continuing to drive innovation and delivery in digital channels is a key part of the strategy for continuing to delight customers. This role requires deep technical experience in developing modern, responsive, global digital experiences and the ability to set standards for the right architecture. This role is central to ensure Amex can build and deploy high quality digital experiences and is critical to growing an inclusive and diverse team of engineers.

    Responsibilities

    • Motivate and inspire the team as a leader and guide teams to solve for complex technical problems in a timely fashion while maintaining a high bar for architectural integrity and code quality.

    • Create a strong engineering culture in the team which reward creativity and innovation.

    • Build a strong foundation of trust and credibility with other business, product, and engineering stakeholders

    • Perform reviews and provide engineering oversight across various delivery teams to ensure alignment with architectural and technical strategy

    • Foster diversity in backgrounds and points of view in the team

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in leading software engineering teams in a complex environment with ability to deal with ambiguous/under-defined problems

    • Possess a good blend of business and technical aptitude and has a strong desire to learn new technology and trends

    • Ability to roll up sleeves and be hands on, while at the same time, ability to be strategic and high level

    • Experience in UI Frameworks such as NodeJS, AngularJS and React

    • Strong understanding and experienced in Java, J2EE, APIs, Restful, Event Driven, and micro-services technologies for large scale environments

    • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach engineers as well as build diverse and inclusive teams

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent work experience
