Supervises and coordinates activities of workers for multiple areas of production. Area of focus is Fabrication, Weld, and Paint. Organizes and maintains production schedules and coordinates flow of material and labor through the department. Ensures department meets and exceeds established safety standards.
Fully accountable for owning the results in assigned area of responsibility and able to adapt quickly to changing customer and production demands. Holds employees accountable for the safety, quality, and efficiency of production in assigned area of responsibility while ensuring on-time delivery. Able to initiate process improvements independently without prompting from supervisor and ability to follow improvements through to ensure those improvements are sustained.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities to include hiring/training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and discipline employees; addressing complaints and resolving concerns.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work-related problems.
Reads and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports, in order to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
Manage periodic equipment maintenance and maintain records for all maintenance activities.
Determines staffing levels and manpower schedules based on workload and knowledge of products and material. Organize and maintain employee training matrix and plan for future required employee trainings.
Coordinates with production planning and purchasing to achieve production schedule in line with productivity and efficiency goals.
Conducts and monitors training programs to enhance subordinates' job performance.
Suggests and initiates plans to motivate workers to achieve goals. Conducts departmental employee meetings. Identify and enforce department safety and housekeeping rules.
Monitors inventory of all products and reports current status.
Daily reporting of production status to the management team during production meeting.

Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite.
Ability to read blueprints along with knowledge of welding terminology and welding symbols.
Must be able to work irregular and/or extended hours, including weekends as needed. May be required to travel

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED certificate required. College degree or Technical School preferred.
Minimum 5 years previous supervisory experience preferable in heavy equipment industry.
Experience in Fabrication or Welding.
