    In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, coordinates workflow, assists with projects and coordinates educational activities. Functions as a working technologist and distributes workload to ensure efficient operations.

    This position works Monday to Friday with a Saturday and Holiday rotation.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinates daily workflow and schedule of the department while maintaining staffing levels based on, but not limited to, call offs, vacations, patient volumes, and training needs.

    • Performs duties in alignment with Mammographer Multi-skilled, or Mammography Specialist.

    • Monitors supply utilization, ordering and restocking as needed and required.

    • Serves as a mentor and leader for others encouraging a Culture of Service Excellence.

    • Utilizing system promoted leadership tools, deal with conflict and sensitive situations.

    • Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of mammography candidates and provides feedback for annual performance reviews.

    • Serves as a resource individual and coordinates operational activities in the breast imaging center in conjunction with or in the absence of direct supervision to promote teamwork and achievement of departmental goals.

    • Oversees maintenance of equipment, monitoring and evaluating quality control tests ensuring equipment compliance to ACR/FDA/MQSA regulations.

    • Leads orientation and training for new hires, students and other medical personnel; ensures competencies are completed in the required time frame. Responsible for offering remediation with Mammographers when necessary.

    • If required by this department, must demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture; demonstrates proper use of power injectors according to set protocols set by department and/or manufacturer.

    • May be required to administer PO, and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to the administration of the contrast media required for the imaging procedure.

    • 3 years clinical experience as a registered mammography technologist with additional competencies in specialized imaging procedures.

    • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients in sensitive situations explaining procedures, providing instruction and providing comfort and support.

    • Analytical ability necessary to operate complex equipment, optimize image quality and minimize patient exposure to ionizing radiation.

    • Advanced skills and competency required to fulfill duties and responsibilities of invasive breast imaging procedures, breast sonography and/or bone densitometry.

    • Certification for breast sonography and/or bone densitometry.

    • Comprehensive knowledge of sterile technique and operation of complex equipment.

    • Maintain active 15 mammography credits every 3 years as defined by the Mammography Quality Standard Act. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: American Registry Radiologic Technologists Breast sonography and/or bone densitometry certification required within 12 months of hire. Bone densitometry certification can be via American Registry Radiologic Technologists or International Society for Clinical Densitometry. CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
